The Malay traditional wedding is a very elaborate and cultural event which takes months to prepare and takes place with much fanfare. In Malaysia, the law stipulates that a Malay person is a Muslim and as such there are many traditions and practices which must be adhered to. The grand affair is such that the wedding day is usually termed as ‘Raja Sehari’ which means that the couple is treated as the King and Queen for a day.
