Lycoris radiata is a flower of the amaryllis family, Amaryllidaceae, a subfamily of Amaryllidoideae. It originated in China, Korea and Nepal, then to Japan then to the Americas and eventually to the rest of the world. It is thought to have been naturalized in the Seychelles and in the Ryukyu Islands.
