Also known as cheese halva or cheese dessert. Balikesir hosmerim dessert has been registered and geographical indication by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. Balikesir and Bursa in particular, Canakkale, Tekirdag, Kirklareli and Izmit are the provinces where dessert is made the most. Evliya Celebi, in his "Travelbook", tells that this dessert was also seen among the first Turkmen nomads who settled in Balikesir, and that they passed to Havran from there.
