The Snowdonia region of North Wales rightly deserves its reputation as one of the most beautiful parts of Britain. Turning off the A5 route to go through Snowdonia itself is always a moment of keen anticipation, as you don't know what the weather is going to be like five miles up the road. This scene is at Llyn Padarn (Llanberis), looking back towards the mountains of Snowdonia. You can just see, faintly lit in a shaft of weak sunlight, the ruin of Dolbadarn Castle on the eastern edge of the lake.
