To me this picture looks almost like a baby chick sitting outside. It is actually a female American goldfinch. The girls have a less bright color to them so they can hide any eggs from predators. This particular came out to get some food and was carefully pecking through to see what she wanted. This picture was taken right outside the window of my house in the East Coventry township close to Pottstown in Pennsylvania.
