At almost 12,000 feet and above treeline, this was a scary episode. Just a couple of days earlier a hiker was struck in the head with a lightning bolt just 100 yards from the trailhead on this same route. I squeezed off some quick pictures, distanced myself from water sources and anything metal & x28;like my tripod& x29; and waited until it passed before resuming my photo work.
