Lavender, Lavandula angustifolia, is a flowering plant native to the Mediterranean. Lavender is a strongly aromatic perennial shrub that grows from 1 to 2 meters. The flowers are pinkish purple. The flowers and leaves are used as a herbal remedy either in the form of lavender oil or as an herbal tea to relieve symptoms such as anxiety and insomnia problems. Lavender is harvested in the summer months in the hot part of the day, when the content of essential oils is highest.
