A tejuela, also called formerly pizarrilla is a flat piece of thin wood rectangular shape with dimensions of 60 cm long, 10 to 15 cm wide and 1 cm thick are used for cladding and ceilings. Its use is very common in the southern part of Chile, mainly in the Lakes Region and particularly in the archipelago of Chiloe. It is also used in Canada, where they take cedarwood. The wood used is the Larch Chile, for its resistance to moisture, but because of excessive logging, this species is threatened in its survival and is forbidden to cut live specimens.
