Stock Photo: Lanternfly Caught On The Side Of A Tree

ID 253983349 © Butlerla791 | Megapixl.com

Lanternflies are known as invasive species in North America. They cling to the bark of a tree, like this one is doing and use a straw that comes out of their mouth to drink of the sap out of the tree. These little insects can be really pretty to look at and unique, but they kill so many plants in the area. The pretty wings with the spots and stripes are cool to look at. The wings almost appear to have oranges, reds, and browns on them. This picture was taken in the East Coventry nature preserve close to Pottstown in Pennsylvania.
