Langur Leaf Monkey on the car roof in Doi Inthanon national park. Thailand, Chiang Mai The park is approximately 60 kilometres (37 mi) from Chiang Mai. The park is very popular with tourists due to the large number of waterfalls, beautiful temples located on the slopes of the mountain as well as the highest mountain in Thailand ( 2,565 m (8,415 ft) The name Doi Inthanon was given in honour of King Inthawichayanon, one of the last kings of Chiang Mai, who was concerned about the forests in the north and tried to preserve them. He ordered that after his death his remains be interred at Doi Luang, which was then renamed in his honour.
