The Apuseni mountains are a mountain range in Transylvania, part of the Western Carpathians in Romania. Lake Belis - Fantanele is an artificial reservoir built in the 1970s for hydropower purposes on the course of the Somesul Cald river in Apuseni. With the construction of the Fantanele Dam, the inhabitants of the bottom of the valley had to leave their homes and move to the top of the respective hill in the village of Belis today
