Genghis Khan in his army created a special institution, whose primary responsibility was planning the disposition of troops, reconnaissance of the enemy, preparation of routes of nomadic camps, location of camps. Officers who were in this body, was called urtzi and obeyed the Khan. Chief urtzi can be comparable with the post of chief quartermaster.
