King's crown (Calotropis procera) is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae and is native to Africa, Asia. It typically grows to a height of 6 to 8 feet (rarely 15 feet) in sunny and partly shaded habitats, including overgrazed pastures, rangeland, roadsides, river flats and coastal dunes. Its green fruit contains a toxic milky sap that contains a complex mix of chemicals, some of which are steroidal heart poisons. Sap is extremely bitter and turns into a gluey coating which is resistant to soap.
