Adenium obesum, better known as desert rose, is a species of poisonous flowering plant belonging to the Nerieae tribe of the Apocynoideae subfamily of the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. This plant is native to the Sahel region south of the Sahara (from Mauritania and Senegal to Sudan), tropical and subtropical eastern and southern Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula. Other names for the flower include Sabi Star, kudu, mock azalea, and impala lily. Adenium obesum is a popular ornamental and bonsai plant in temperate climates.
