Julia Child's kitchen from her Irving Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts home was put on display at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History in Washington D.C. in August 2001. The actual kitchen used in the cookbook author's TV programs was transported there and re-assembled. The kitchen was designed by her husband, Paul who picked the blue-green color of the kitchen panels
