Historic house built in 1795 and partially burned in retaliation for the owners support of the british in the war of 1812 taking fort mackinaw, this is the second oldest building in the northwest and served as a home and trading post. Johnston married a local woman, daughter of a Chippewa Indian Chief. Now a Michigan State Historic Site.
