This image shows a group of pilgrims visiting the Jetavanaramaya, a Buddhist stupa located in the ancient city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. The stupa is the largest in Sri Lanka and is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the country. It was built by King Mahasena in the 3rd century AD and is said to have taken 15 years to complete. The stupa is made of bricks and is over 120 meters tall. It is topped with a golden finial. The image shows the pilgrims standing in front of the stupa. They are all wearing white robes and are holding flowers and other offerings. The image captures the sense of peace and tranquility that is felt at this sacred site.
