Jatigede Reservoir is a reservoir located in Sumedang Regency, West Java Province. The construction of this reservoir has been planned since the Dutch East Indies era. This reservoir was built in 2008 during the presidency of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and was only inaugurated in 2015 and fully operational in 2017. This reservoir was built by damming the flow of the Cimanuk River in the Jatigede District, Sumedang Regency with a capacity of 979.5 million cubic meters of water . Jatigede Reservoir is the second largest reservoir in Indonesia. Like other reservoirs, the Jatigede Reservoir also has the main function of irrigation facilities and hydroelectric power & x28;PLTA& x29;. In addition, it also functions as a freshwater fishery cultivation facility, water sports facilities, recreational facilities, and so on. The Jatigede Reservoir functions as an irrigation center for 90,000 hectares of productive agricultural land in Cirebon, Indramayu and Majalengka Regencies. In addition, water from the Jatigede Reservoir will also be used for a 110 Megawatt & x28;MW& x29; Hydroelectric Power Plant which is currently being built by PT PLN & x28;Persero& x29;. This reservoir will also supply clean water to local residents with a capacity of up to 3,500 cubic meters per second. In addition, this reservoir will also reduce flooding for 14,000 hectares of area in West Java.
