The United States Marine Corps War Memorial; Also called the Iwo Jima Memorial, it is a military commemorative statue located outside Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Virginia, United States. The statue is dedicated to all members of the United States Marine Corps who died defending their country since 1775. The sculpture's design is based on the iconic photograph Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima, taken during the Battle of Iwo Jima by Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal.
