Leech in medicine were one of the oldest pratice dating as far as ancient Greece. The first recorded use of leeches in medicine was in 200 BC by the Greek physician Nicander in Colophon. Today is very hard to find this practice in medicine. But tradition of use of leeches is still alive in Turkey. One can buy leeches from the street sellers in Istanbul, not far away from Galatasaray bridge. They bring leeches for sale in plastic bottles filled with water.
