Stock Photo: Iron Boiler Through A Window Of The Sawmill Building

ID 296854345 © Paulbuhr | Megapixl.com

Building used to house a sawmill for the production of lumber for Fort Laramie, Wyoming. Walls were made of a material similar to concrete and were built in stages by mixing quick lime and sand and gravel and pouring the mixture into forms. The forms were built on the walls in blocks, and after curing, the forms were removed and moved to the next block until the walls were finished. The walls were then coated in whitewash to help preserve the walls from the elements. An iron boiler can be seen inside the ruins which was used to produce steam to operate the mill and manufacture the lumber.
