It is an endemic bird found in the Indochina Peninsula. and parts of the former Indian subcontinent, Field Jay was included as a subspecies of the Indian Jay (C. benghalensis), which is now a separate species. The distinctive feature of the field bird is blue. and the overall blue will be darker. The neck is dark brown and the smoke is pronounced indigo.
