Indian Paintbrush is located in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Louisiana is found in open fields and along highways. They have a short blooming season, from late spring to early summer. They grow to 18 inches tall. The flowers are a beautiful red turning green at the stem. They appear to have been dipped in red paint, thus the common name, Indian Paintbrush.
