At 126 feet tall, the water tower at Fort Fincastle was built in 1928, and has an internal stairway of 216 steps. It is also the highest point on the island. The water tower is the city`s top tourist destination. Although built decades earlier, the Nassau water tower appears a classic example of the Brutalism architecture style known for its use of functional reinforced concrete and steel and utilitarian feel. Brutalist architecture began in the 1950s was primarily used for institutional buildings.
