Località Ciolo is a small town located on the Adriatic coast a few minutes from the Cape of Santa Maria di Leuca. It takes its name from the homonymous cave, THE CAVE OF CIOLO the ciole in Salento dialect are the ladre magpies. The 100-meter-long cave, which can only be accessed from the sea, is now often a refuge for sea turtles, while a few years ago a specimen of sea ox or monk seal was sighted.
Inside the cave is a freshwater spring. The Bay of Ciolo is small as a resort but it is one of the places to visit at least once if you come on holiday in Salento. From Torre Vado or Pescoluse you can reach it in a few minutes by car. It is a very suggestive place for the presence of the high rocks that descend overhanging the sea, the colors of the water range from blue to intense green and, in particular in summer, it becomes the favorite place for the most daring who like to dive from very high altitude differences.
The two ribs are joined by a spectacular bridge from which the beauty of the landscape really leaves you breathless.
