Þingvellir national park near Reykjavik is one of the most popular places of interest along so called Golden Ring - route from Reykjavik. This is where the American and Eurasian plates meet or better to say separate as they are drifting apart. It is also a cradle of democracy as the earliest democratic parliament was founded on this spot. To celebrate 1000 years of democracy the farm house seen in the picture were built in 1930. It is used as prime minister's summer house.
