Pictured is the Holy Family Altar centered on the south wall of the nave of Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. The Blessed Mother holds the Christ Child with Saint Joseph standing proudly in the background. The side panels show richly robed worshippers bringing gifts to the Christ child of the products of Texas. One bears a bouquet of bluebonnets; one, a rabbit; a dove; a basket containing grapefruit, oranges and grapes; a lily; and a lamb. The colorful shrine of the Holy Family was designed and executed by Leo Cartwright of Carmel, California. Christ the King Church opened in a wooden building in 1941 and the current new building was completed in 1955.
