A scenic picture of the historic Barker Dam surrounded by the low water level and boulders in the desert at Joshua Tree National Park in California. The previous water level can be seen on the sides of the rocks. Originally built by C.O. Barker, a cattlemen, around 1900 to supply water for livestock. The dam was raised by Bill Keys around 1949-1950 whose ranch has been preserved, is nearby, and is a popular tourist attraction.
