The church in the town was built in the 15th century's steeple headed pilgrimage church - Heiligenblut am Großglockner parish church. It is said that there was a bottle of holy blood at first, so the place got its name (Heiligenblut am Großglockner means "holy blood") and built a church. It has become an important place for pilgrimage, and is one of the churches with the most times of being photographed in Austria.
