The photograph includes a prominent tree in front of the Headquarters building at old Fort Concho, in San Angelo, Texas. In 1867, this fort was established at the junction of the Butterfield Trail, the Goodnight Trail and the road to San Antonio. By 1889, the fort had served its purpose, was abandoned and was put into private ownership.
