The Great Egret feeds on flooded plains, marshes, lakes, and mangrove forests, feeding on aquatic animals, frogs, tadpoles, insects and other small animals. Great egret breeds during the rainy season and lives in flocks, preferring to nest together in the same tree as other egrets. The nest is made of small dry twigs interwoven with each other, with a basin in the middle for Males and females help to build nests, incubate and raise young. Lay 3-4 eggs at a time. Incubation period is 25–26 days.
