Ficinia nodosa is a type of grass, growing to a height of approximately 100 cm, with smooth green-yellow stems spreading to a diameter of 200 cm. The stem itself grows to between 15 and 100 cm in length and 1 to 2 mm in diameter. The flowers appear as brown-orange clusters just below the tip of the stem, with hemispherical spots 7-20 mm in diameter located under the bracts.
