Three newly hatched goslings forage for tender young vegetation on Mississippi River mudflats near the Clark Bridge leading to Alton, Illinois. The flats are usually under water from the Alton Dam backwater pool. Located on the Missouri side of the river these mudflats are part of the Audubon Riverlands Wildlife area in St. Charles county, Missouri.
