Goldenrod, genus Solidago, weedy, perennial herb flowers of the aster family, Asteraceae. Most of them are native to North America. They are found in almost every habitat type—in woodlands, swamps, mountains, fields, and along roadsides and form one of the chief floral glories of autumn from the Great Plains eastward to the Atlantic. Pollinators can be found where goldenrod is. Not uncommon sight in the FingerLakes of NewYorkState to find crop fields filled with colorful yellow goldenrod during Autumn.
