Amritsar: 5th May 2018: Beautiful view of the Golden temple. The Golden Temple,also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib,is a famous Sikh temple located in the city of Amritsar in the state of Punjab,India. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country and is also considered the holiest shrine of Sikhism.The temple was built in the 16th century by the fourth Sikh Guru,Guru Ram Das. The construction of the temple was completed by his successor,Guru Arjan Dev. The temple was built in the middle of a man-made lake,called the Amrit Sarovar.The most distinctive feature of the temple is its dome,which is covered in gold leaf. This gives the temple its name,the Golden Temple. The temple is also surrounded by a white marble walkway,which is used by pilgrims who come to pay their respects.The temple complex includes several other important buildings,including the Akal Takht,which is the highest temporal seat of Sikhism. The Akal Takht is where the Sikh leaders meet to discuss important issues related to the religion.The temple is open to visitors of all faiths and is a symbol of unity and brotherhood. Visitors are required to cover their heads and remove their shoes before entering the temple. The temple also provides free meals to all visitors,regardless of their religion,caste,or social status.Overall,the Golden Temple is a beautiful and peaceful place that attracts millions of visitors each year.
