Tolerance, Mary Mackey. The East Side Gallery is considered a symbol of freedom. From January 1990, 118 artists from 21 different countries met to decorate the longest open-air fresco in the world. The theme was of course the division and reunification of Germany. But above all, the paintings reflect the change, euphoria and hope for a better world that reigned after the fall of the Wall. In 1992
