Since the painting Geograf is one of my favorite works of art, I decided to approach it a little in terms of its composition and content. The author of the painting Geograf is the famous Dutch Baroque painter Jan Vermeer van Delft (1632 – 1675), who is one of the most important representatives of the golden era of Dutch painting. Vermeer specialized exclusively in interior compositions, where he mainly depicted the middle class of the population in the city of Delft, which provided him with excellent conditions in this regard. We still know his 34 paintings. The painting Geographer was created in the period 1668-1669 and is only one of three Vermeer paintings signed and dated by the author himself (the other two are Astronomer and Merchant).
