Produced and without the manufacturer`s trademark and without approval from the National Health Surveillance Agency, a Brazilian federal agency similar to the American FDA. “Garrafada” It is part of Brazilian popular medicine and produced in a clandestine way. It is the combination of medicinal plants that can be dry or fresh bark, fruits, leaves, roots or flowers, mixed with wine or brandy cachaça and used for different therapeutic purposes, mainly recognized for being an aphrodisiac and consumed more by males. The most used herbs are: catuaba, marapuama and guaraná. It is sold at popular fairs, mainly in the north and northeast of Brazil.
