This photo was taken mid-hike along the trail leading to Black Tusk Mountain. There are three mountains that backdrop the beautiful, turquoise Garibaldi Lake. The closest mountain, in the centre of the photo, is Mt. Price. The large rock formation jutting out behind and to the left of Mt. Price is called The Table. It's name is fitting. Behind The Table is Garibaldi Mountain; one of the few mountains in southern British Columbia that retains it's snow cap year-round. To this date, the Black Tusk hike and view from the summit is the most stunning I have seen from atop a mountain. This hike is incredible, starting from the bottom of the mountain. The meandering forest breaks for several spectacular waterfall views and is full of luscious greenery. When the forest ends, the trail leads through an incredibly colourful alpine meadow, Taylor Meadow. At this point in the hike, you are high enough to look down onto Garibaldi lake, and reach views like the one in the photo. Even after being spoiled with the views leading up to the Black Tusk, the view of the 'chimney' itself is flooring. Imagining climbing to the top of this dormant volcano is in itself a feat of mental fortitude. I can assure you, the last 200m of the climb are the most challenging in the 21km hike, but they are worth every step.
