Pictured is a fresco showing Saint Peter the Apostle in the ancient cave church, La Chiesa di San Lorenzo, in the Parco Rupestre Lama D`Antico. The rupestrian settlement of Lama d’Antico is regarded as one of the oldest of the Puglia Region. It was already inhabited in the 10th century AD. Saint Peter was born in 1 AD and thought to have been martyred in 64 AD in Rome, crucified by Nero. He was the first of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, and Roman`s viewed him as the first pope.
