Frank Caven probably had the biggest impact on gay life in Dallas, through the bars he owned always putting people first and profits second. He helped organize the Holy Trinity Community Church and donated to the Oak Lawn Counseling Center. He established the Caven Employees Benefit Association, a trust fund which offers financial assistance to empolyees of Caven enterprises who have AIDS. He died at age 68 in 1988 of metastatic tongue cancer.
