Hall of Fame NFL pro halfback and defensive back for the New York Giants, Frank Gifford, appears in Bowling Green, a small public park in Lower Manhattan. The occasion weas a press conference announcing the partnership between the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the National Sports Museum in New York City June 19, 2007. In 2009 the museum closed its doors due to poor attendance. Gifford died on August 9, 2015, a weak shy of his 85th birthday, at his home in Greenwich, Connecticut. He had suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
