Pictured is the ceiling vault fresco in the Contrari Chapel of the Fortress of Vignola in Modena, Italy. The four evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They are not accompanied by their traditional symbols but by a figure referring to the contents of their respective gospels. The figures are the three faced Trinity and the Tree of Life, the Mystical Lamb, the blessing infant Jesus in the manger and the resurrected Christ. The artist was the Master of Vignola, circa 1432.
