Former British Consulate, built in 1865, is a modern western Taiwan currently surviving building in the oldest one. After the Sino-Japanese War in 1895, during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan to enter. In 1901, the British government consul's residence were renovated red brick facades coated with cement to avoid air brick salt composition on erosion, so now the residue is still visible on the walls of gray cement.
