Forbidden City. Tian’Anmen In English Means The Gate Of Heavenly Peace. T Was First Named €˜Chengtianmen’ When It Was Built In 1417 As The Main Gate Of The Former Imperial City. In The Early Ming Dynasty, It Was A Wooden Structure, And Was Burned Down After It Was Struck By Lightning In 1457. Then It Was Rebuilt In 1465 With A Nine-Room-Wide And Five-Room-Long Wooden Gate Tower To Reflect The Highly-Exalted Status Of The Emperor. At The End Of The Ming Dynasty, It Was Destroyed Again In The War And Received Its Present Name In 1651 When It Was Rebuilt For The Second Time In The Qing Dynasty. The T Rostrum Consists Of Three Sections: Basement, Terrace And Tower. The Whole Building Now Is 35Ms High After It Was Renovated In1970. Since The Founding Of The People’S Republic Of China, From The 50S To 90S, Large-Scale Renovations Have Been Done Several Times, Elevators, Central Heating And Other Modern Equipment Have Also Been Installed.
