First World War Canadian memorial at St Julien known as the Brooding Soldier. It is located at a road junction called Vancouver Corner by the hamlet of Keerslare, close to the village of St Julien (or St Juliaan in Flemish), in the Ypres Salient of the First World War Western Front. It marks where Canadian troops stood firm against German poison gas and infantry attacks in the opening phases of the Second Battle of Ypres, 22 to 24 April 1915.
