Fringed winter wheat is the result of hybridization and breeding of winter wheat resistant to grain lodging. Wheat is a staple food plant. Fringed wheat is classified as a high-yielding short-stemmed wheat variety and promotes high wheat yields. The dwarf wheat plant is low and is not exposed to storms after heavy cultivation, therefore it provides greater lodging resistance and a higher yield of wheat per unit area.
