Lake Maggiore or Lago Verbano is located on the south side of the Alps and the second largest lake in Italy. The lake and its shoreline are divided between Piedmont (the other side) and Lombardy region (this side). The climate is mild in both summer and winter, producing Mediterranean vegetation. A ferryboat for the public transport of vehicles connects the Piedmont and the Lombardy shores.
