Pictured is a female northern cardinal perched on barbed wire in the La Lomita Bird and Wildlife Photography Ranch in the City of Uvalde, Texas. The binomial name is Cardinalis cardinalis. The male is a brilliant crimson red color with a black face mask while the female is fawn-colored with a slight reddish tint on the wings, crest, and tail feathers.
