This is a photo of a live female blue carb with a sponge belly holding onto a pair of crab tongs. During this seasonal time of the year the blue crabs will lay their eggs under their skirt giving them an orange belly filled with their eggs. We use tongs to release the crab back into the wild carefully without damaging the eggs to ensure future generations of crabs.
